US and Europe develop four-point peace plan for Ukraine

The United States and Europe are developing a four-point peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The proposed framework includes four primary pillars: the reconstruction of Ukraine, security guarantees for both Ukraine and Russia, an energy agreement involving Russia, Ukraine, and Europe, and a ceasefire along the current front line.

To support reconstruction, the World Bank and BlackRock are exploring mechanisms to fund the recovery of devastated areas. Negotiators have requested cost estimates from Kyiv to facilitate these efforts. The energy pillar may involve new pipelines and could potentially allow Russia access to European energy markets in exchange for lifting sanctions.

Separately, President Donald Trump has addressed concerns regarding US-Ukraine relations. Despite reports of potential intelligence cuts following Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, Trump stated that the US continues to share intelligence with Ukraine. He emphasized a desire to end the war through cooperation with both Kyiv and Moscow, noting the deep animosity between President Zelenskyy and President Putin.

Trump also defended a recent agreement to allow the supply of Russian diesel to the US and global markets, aimed at lowering fuel prices. This deal has faced criticism from both US political parties, with some senators arguing it provides financial support to Russia during the conflict.
