Europe weather: Heatwaves in the south and cold fronts in Central Europe

Europe is experiencing significant weather volatility as it transitions between summer and autumn. A powerful anticyclone is expected to impact Southwestern Europe, potentially driving temperatures above 30°C in France, Spain, and Portugal between September 21 and 25. Meteorologists suggest this could be one of the strongest anticyclones for this period.

In contrast, Central Europe is preparing for a sharp shift. A cold front moving from the northwest is expected to bring a significant drop in temperatures and increased cloudiness to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. While the upcoming weekend may offer warm, sunny conditions with temperatures reaching up to 25-28°C in some regions, the following week will see a marked cooling, with daytime highs potentially dropping toward 15-20°C.

Meteorological models indicate that while the immediate transition may feel like a sudden autumn, the overall trend for the remainder of September in Central Europe may remain warmer than historical averages.
