Europe-wide Salmonella outbreak linked to ready‑to‑eat noodle cups

Health authorities have identified a salmonella outbreak linked to flavored ready‑to‑eat noodle cups across 14 European countries. A total of 106 cases have been reported, of which 49 required hospitalisation; 33 of the hospitalized patients are children under ten. The outbreak, first detected in Denmark, is believed to have started in November 2025. Investigations point to a specific chicken‑flavored noodle brand, with the producer remaining unnamed, though ties to a Ukrainian manufacturer (Euro Food Service) have been mentioned. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) are coordinating the response and have urged recalls of the implicated products.

The affected nations include Austria, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden. Children have been disproportionately affected, prompting health warnings about severe gastrointestinal symptoms and the need for medical attention, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals.
