European agricultural markets see rising harvests and soaring grain prices

The European peach and nectarine market entered the second half of July 2026 with forecasts of a larger harvest, heightened competition among the main producing countries and notable price variations across the region.

At the same time, grain markets are under pressure as wheat futures on Euronext broke the €230 per tonne mark for September 2026 delivery. The surge follows a drought‑driven cut in French wheat output forecasts and ongoing disruptions to Black Sea export routes, which together push up prices for wheat, corn, rapeseed and other oilseeds.

Both developments reflect broader challenges for European farmers, from climate‑related yield risks to geopolitical tensions affecting key export corridors.
