European AI Sovereignty Projects Unveil New Storage Platform and Assistant Service
Scality and OVHcloud have partnered to deliver a sovereign storage platform designed for European AI workloads. The solution combines Scality's RING and ARTESCA object‑storage software with OVHcloud's On‑Prem Cloud Platform, offering S3‑compatible, GPU‑direct storage that runs entirely on customer premises or OVHcloud bare‑metal servers. It complies with GDPR, DORA, NIS2 and HIPAA, targeting sectors such as healthcare, finance, defence and public services, and includes built‑in cyber‑resilience tools and multi‑zone replication.
Vienna‑based startup Eustella has launched an AI assistant that runs Chinese open‑weight models (Qwen 3.5, DeepSeek, Moonshot) on EU‑hosted infrastructure. The service guarantees that user data never leaves EU data centres and remains subject to GDPR, with no data used for model training. Available on web, iOS and Android in open beta, the assistant offers customizable personalities, news digests, research tools and a workflow builder, with pricing ranging from a free tier to €89.99 per month. Eustella aims to attract up to 100 million European users while positioning the service as a sovereign alternative to US‑based AI assistants.
