European air conditioning demand surges amid heatwaves

Demand for air conditioning installation across Europe has surged due to prolonged heatwaves. Data from Werkspot indicates that requests in the Netherlands have increased by 114 percent compared to the previous year. Similar trends are visible in other European nations, with Germany seeing a 152 percent increase, the United Kingdom a 150 percent increase, and France a 90 percent increase.

Extreme heat is impacting both residential comfort and economic productivity. Researchers from Triodos Bank estimate that heat could reduce the EU's GDP by approximately 1 percent by 2026, representing roughly €180 billion in economic damage. Beyond cooling systems, there has also been an increase in demand for ceiling fans, shutters, and sun protection as residents attempt to manage rising indoor temperatures.
