European airports Stansted and Brussels report high July passenger numbers
Major European airports London Stansted and Brussels Airport reported significant passenger growth during July.
London Stansted Airport recorded its busiest month ever, welcoming over 3.1 million passengers. This represents a 6.3 per cent increase compared to the previous year. The airport saw more than 100,000 daily passengers on 18 separate days throughout the month, with top destinations including Spain, Italy, and Turkey.
Brussels Airport also experienced a surge, processing 2,577,710 travelers in July, marking its busiest July since 2019. This is a 2.8 per cent increase from the same month last year. Growth was attributed to summer holidays, festivals such as Tomorrowland, and the Formula 1 weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. The airline Transavia contributed to this increase by stationing a fourth aircraft at the airport to expand Mediterranean routes.
