European and Athens stock markets close with losses
European stock markets experienced declines on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. In Athens, the General Index fell by 0.76% to 2,652.07 points, while the FTSE/ATHEX Large Cap index dropped 0.88% to 6,788.24 points. Despite the general downturn, Motor Oil saw a 2.95% increase, and HELLENiQ Energy rose by 2.61%. Conversely, Alpha Bank led the losses among large-cap stocks with a 2.76% decline.
