European and global corporations report strategic shifts and major contracts
Several major European and international corporations are seeing significant shifts in market positioning and strategic direction.
Voestalpine secured a historic 470-million-euro framework contract for the Rail Baltica project, involving the delivery of up to 1,000 switches and digital monitoring systems. Following this, Deutsche Bank raised its price target for the Austrian steel and technology group to 63 euros.
In the banking sector, Commerzbank reported record first-quarter net earnings of 913 million euros. However, CEO Bettina Orlopp indicated that her future at the bank depends on reaching a strategic agreement and establishing trust with UniCredit, which controls nearly half of the shares.
Bawag Group is receiving strong analyst support, with ten out of twelve analysts recommending a buy, supported by positive outlooks from Morgan Stanley and Autonomous Research.
In contrast, Goldman Sachs downgraded the German real estate group Vonovia from ‘Buy’ to ‘Neutral,’ lowering its price target to 21.20 euros due to rising interest rates and political uncertainty.
Meanwhile, SoftBank Group is advancing its artificial intelligence infrastructure strategy. The company issued a 1 trillion yen corporate bond to fund AI investments and is moving forward with an IPO filing for its subsidiary, SB Energy, in the United States.
