European and US equity markets hit record highs amid AI optimism and US‑Iran talks FAST-MOVING

European equity indexes surged to new all‑time highs. The pan‑European STOXX 600 closed around 657‑660 points, while the EURO STOXX 50 also set a record. National benchmarks followed suit: Germany’s DAX broke above 26,100, France’s CAC 40 topped 8,700, and Italy’s FTSE MIB reached 53,540. The rally was powered by strong earnings and a surge in AI‑related stocks, notably Nvidia, which rose more than 3 % after Elon Musk announced SpaceX will use only Nvidia chips.

In the United States, markets were mixed. The S&P 500 slipped about 0.2 %, the Nasdaq fell roughly 0.8 %, and the Dow Jones gained 0.5 %. Investors digested weaker‑than‑expected ADP job numbers (44 000 jobs added versus a 75 000 forecast) and a 5 % drop in oil prices, with Brent and WTI hovering near $75‑79 per barrel after reports of a possible US‑Iran peace agreement.

The Dutch AEX also approached a record level of about 1,117 points, boosted by gains in Heineken, Adyen and other Dutch firms. Across the Atlantic, AI enthusiasm tempered by concerns over oil‑price volatility and geopolitical developments shaped the market narrative.
