European automakers roll out affordable EVs and high‑performance electric M concept
Kia and Hyundai are spearheading a price battle in the compact electric‑car segment, targeting a €30,000 price point. Kia unveiled the EV2, a small B‑segment hatchback that promises generous interior space, while Hyundai announced the IONIQ 3, aimed at mass‑market buyers with a solid range and a sub‑€30,000 tag. Renault is pursuing a different route, reviving the iconic Twingo as a fully electric city car focused on ultra‑compact size and low cost.
At the same time, BMW revealed its M Concept Neue Klasse, a concept sport sedan built on the Neue Klasse i3 platform and fitted with four electric motors. The model showcases aggressive aerodynamics, distinctive lighting and a design that references the brand’s racing heritage. While it remains a prototype, BMW says the electric M will eventually replace the traditional M3, signalling a broader shift toward fully electric performance vehicles in Europe.
