European automotive market trends show brand dominance and shifting consumer preferences
Analysis of the European automotive market for the first half of 2026 reveals distinct consumer preferences across major economies. In Germany, domestic brands dominate with a 49% market share, followed by Japanese, French, and Korean manufacturers. In the United Kingdom, German brands hold a 24% share, while Chinese brands have gained significant traction at 15%, partly aided by the presence of brands like MG.
In the Polish used car market, data from September 2026 shows 245,460 vehicles were sold, with an average price of 51,148 PLN. The average age of a sold vehicle was 11 years with 167,763 km on the odometer. Lower-priced vehicles sell more rapidly; cars priced under 10,000 PLN find buyers in an average of 25 days, whereas vehicles priced above 150,000 PLN take approximately 60 days to sell.
