European automotive trends show rising SUV demand among women

Market data from France, Italy, and the Netherlands reveals shifting consumer habits among female drivers in Europe. Contrary to traditional stereotypes favoring small city cars like the Fiat 500 or Mini Cooper, research indicates that women are increasingly prioritizing space, comfort, and utility.

Data from the AutoTrack platform shows that nearly 40 percent of women filtering by body type select SUVs, while 30 percent search for hatchbacks. The most sought-after used models among women include the Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Polo, and Volkswagen Tiguan, as well as the Toyota Yaris, Nissan Qashqai, and Ford Focus.

In a separate development, the Smart brand has introduced the Smart #2 at the Paris Motor Show. This electric two-seater aims to revive the brand's compact roots, measuring 2,746 mm in length and utilizing the new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform to provide a maneuverable alternative to the growing trend of larger vehicles.
