European banks advise maintaining cash reserves for emergencies

European central banks and financial institutions are advising citizens to maintain cash reserves at home to prepare for potential electronic payment failures caused by power outages or internet disruptions.

In the Netherlands, the National Forum for the Payment System, led by De Nederlandsche Bank, recommends that adults keep 70 euros and children keep 30 euros to cover essential needs like food, water, and medicine for 72 hours. In Sweden, the Riksbank suggests keeping approximately 1,000 Swedish kronor per adult to cover basic expenses for seven days. These amounts serve as guidelines for individuals to adapt to their own financial capabilities.
