European Boxing Championships in Sofia face squad changes due to injuries

Bulgarian boxers Viktorio Iliev and Hristea Ninova have withdrawn from the upcoming European Boxing Championships in Sofia due to training injuries. Iliev will be replaced by Rumen Rumenov, while the women's team has no immediate replacement for Ninova.

Despite these absences, Bulgaria will field a full squad consisting of ten male and five female boxers. The tournament, which marks the first time in over 20 years that the men's and women's championships are held simultaneously at a single venue, will feature 405 competitors from 44 countries, including a Refugee Team.

Martin Folke, General Secretary of European Boxing, noted the high quality of the field, which includes Olympic gold medalist Kellie Harrington. The event is expected to involve over 1,000 people, including athletes, coaches, and officials.
