European cities are increasingly accessible via direct train connections from the Netherlands, offering convenient alternatives to air travel for short trips.

Berlin is a primary destination, with international train services from various Dutch locations including Amsterdam, Hilversum, and Apeldoorn. Travelers can reach Berlin Hauptbahnhof in approximately 5 hours and 50 minutes from Amsterdam, with some tickets available from €38 for a one-way journey in second class.

Other accessible destinations include Brussels and Antwerp via high-speed connections like the Eurostar, and Vienna via the ÖBB Nightjet sleeper train. Looking ahead, new direct connections between Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Malmö are expected to begin service in the spring of 2028.
