European Commission approves final 23 billion CZK for Czech Recovery Plan

The European Commission has issued a preliminary approval for the seventh and final payment to the Czech Republic under the National Recovery Plan (NPO). The installment, totaling approximately 23 billion CZK (951 million EUR), is part of the NextGenerationEU program designed to mitigate the economic impacts of the pandemic.

The funds are earmarked for various strategic projects, including the development of community energy, the electrification of public transport in Prague, and the construction of quantum communication infrastructure. Significant investments will also support science and higher education through the creation of two new university campuses, the development of affordable rental housing, and the construction of the Czech Oncology Institute at Motol University Hospital.

This final payment follows the successful completion of 13 milestones and 25 targets set by the Czech Republic. The funds are expected to be disbursed by the end of the year, pending final confirmation by the EU Council.
