European Commission blocks Polish state aid for MAN factory expansion
The European Commission has rejected Poland's plan to provide state aid for the expansion of the MAN Truck & Bus factory in Niepołomice. The Commission concluded that the proposed support violates EU state aid rules.
The total aid package was valued at approximately 116.3 million PLN. This included a direct subsidy of 10.7 million PLN and a CIT tax exemption worth roughly 105.6 million PLN. The investment was intended to increase the plant's annual production capacity from a range of 15,000–25,000 vehicles to between 60,000 and 70,000 vehicles.
According to the Commission, Poland failed to provide sufficient evidence that the aid was necessary to incentivize the investment or that it was proportionate. The investigation, which began in 2025, determined that the support did not meet the required 'incentive effect' and could potentially lead to excess production capacity in the market.
