European Commission President criticizes Serbian officials at state funeral

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has issued criticism regarding the presence of high-ranking Serbian officials at a state funeral. She described the elements of official support and the attendance of certain Serbian officials as “deeply regrettable.”

According to the report, the presence of these officials demonstrates a failure to confront dark chapters of recent European history and stands in opposition to European values. The controversy follows a funeral held with state honors, which the EU mission in Montenegro had initially failed to acknowledge as a state-organized event, stating it was up to Serbia to decide how to organize such ceremonies.
