European Commission reports rising job quality across EU

An analysis by the European Commission indicates that job quality across the European Union has been on an upward trend over the last decade. The assessment focuses on three primary pillars: salary levels, job stability, and work organization.

The Commission links improved job quality to increased economic productivity and competitiveness. Higher pay and greater job security are viewed as economic drivers that reduce staff turnover and encourage companies to invest in training.

However, the report highlights several challenges, including slowing employment growth, modest productivity increases, and household income pressures caused by high energy costs. Additionally, labor shortages are most acute in sectors with the lowest job quality.

Strategic sectors such as manufacturing, high-value knowledge services, information and communications, finance, and public administration report the highest job quality. Conversely, the hospitality sector (HoReCa), administrative support services, and low-skilled occupations face issues with atypical working hours, less stable contracts, and below-average remuneration.
