European companies seek digital sovereignty via local IT solutions
European companies are increasingly seeking digital sovereignty to reduce reliance on US and Chinese technology providers. According to Bitkom, 93 percent of German companies depend on foreign digital technologies. While 57 percent of firms maintain a dependency on US or Chinese solutions despite perceived risks, there is a growing shift toward local alternatives. A study by Myra Security indicates that the number of IT decision-makers excluding European solutions has dropped from nearly 50 percent last year to just 4.6 percent today, with 40 percent actively implementing European alternatives.
In response to this demand, A1 Digital, a subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group, is expanding its focus on the German mid-sized market. The company offers cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), and security solutions designed to meet GDPR compliance. Its Exoscale cloud product serves as a European alternative to American providers, specifically targeting sectors such as construction and mechanical engineering in regions like Bavaria and Southwest Germany to facilitate remote machine monitoring and data analysis.
