European Court of Justice clarifies telecom contract termination rights

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has addressed legal questions regarding telecommunications contracts in case C-669/24. Following a proceeding by the Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband against Vodafone, the court clarified the conditions under which customers are entitled to terminate contracts free of charge following unilateral changes made by providers. This ruling interprets Article 105 of the European Electronic Communications Code, defining the limits for providers when adjusting contract terms for mobile, landline, and internet users.

In a separate commercial development, Vodafone has announced changes to its service conditions effective September 29, 2026. The company will increase prices for its add-on Netflix packages by 2 euros per month across all three available tiers. Simultaneously, Vodafone is introducing a 150 euro cashback offer for new customers signing 24-month contracts for the GigaZuhause 150 fiber optic plan.
