European data protection authorities commit to tighter GDPR cooperation

GDPR European Data Protection Board cross‑border enforcement AI data privacy

The European Data Protection Board’s High‑Level Group met in Dublin on 16‑17 July to improve cross‑border enforcement of the GDPR. Participants highlighted the need for a unified legal basis to facilitate information exchange among national data‑protection authorities, especially as AI‑driven services and cybersecurity issues become more prevalent.

The board agreed to develop common tools, share resources and best‑practice workshops, and to advance the forthcoming EDPB procedural regulation. Reducing divergent national interpretations and handling the surge in privacy complaints linked to artificial‑intelligence systems were identified as priority actions.

These steps aim to create a more coordinated European approach to data‑privacy enforcement across the digital ecosystem.
