European Day of Jewish Culture 2026 to feature events in Germany and Italy

The 2026 European Day of Jewish Culture will be observed on September 6, 2026, under the central theme of ‘Love’. The event features diverse programming across several European locations, including Munich, Germany, and various cities in Italy such as Turin and Vercelli.

In Munich, the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München und Oberbayern has organized activities including guided tours of the Old Jewish Cemetery and the Munich Old Town, visits to the Ohel Jakob Synagogue, and a book presentation by author Dror Mishani. The program also includes kosher culinary offerings and a flea market for books and CDs.

In Italy, the celebrations in the Piedmont region include official openings, conferences on the historical and literary role of the body in Jewish love poetry, and open access to city synagogues. Exhibits will feature Piedmontese ritual art and wedding poetry from the Terracini Archive. The festivities in Turin are scheduled to continue with a musical and theatrical performance on September 8.
