European Elite Boxing Championships: Irish boxers reach medal rounds

The European Elite Boxing Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, have seen significant performances from several international athletes. Bulgarian former champion Stanimira Petrova made a successful return to the ring on home soil, securing a victory against Slovakia’s Bibiana Lovasova with a second-round knockdown.

In the women’s 57kg division, England’s Elise Glynn eliminated gold medal favorite Irma Testa of Italy. Other notable advancements include Spain’s Marta Lopez del Arbol and Russia’s Iulia Chumgalakova in the 48kg category, as well as Poland’s Agata Kaczmarska in the 75kg division.

Representing Ireland, three boxers have successfully reached the medal rounds, marking a significant achievement for the Irish team on the international stage.
