European energy sectors prioritize biomethane and grid innovation
European energy sectors are focusing on infrastructure modernization and renewable integration. The European Biogas Association (EBA) highlights that biomethane has transitioned from a secondary technology to a key component of the European energy strategy. To achieve large-scale deployment, the sector must address market consolidation, investment capacity, and the need to decarbonize sectors that are difficult to electrify.
Simultaneously, the European Association of Distribution System Operators (E. DSO) has identified critical innovation priorities for 2026. Distribution system operators are prioritizing grid capacity expansion, flexibility solutions, and cybersecurity. These efforts aim to accommodate increased demand from electric vehicles, distributed energy resources, and new electrified loads while maximizing the efficiency of existing infrastructure.
