European ETF market sees record inflows amid economic shifts

European UCITS ETFs experienced a significant surge in the third quarter of 2026, recording net inflows of 127.4 billion euros. This represents a 12 percent increase compared to the second quarter, bringing total assets under management to 3.2 trillion euros.

Equity ETFs were the primary driver, attracting nearly 100 billion euros. Demand was particularly strong for global indices, including All-Country and global developed market categories. While US equities remained highly sought after with 25.5 billion euros in inflows, regional shifts were noted as European ETFs returned to positive territory after outflows in the previous quarter.

In the fixed-income sector, bond ETFs saw 26.4 billion euros in interest, with investors favoring short-term US government bonds and money market funds over riskier high-yield options. Gold-related ETPs and ETCs are also on track for a record year, with 10.4 billion euros in inflows since the start of 2026, driven by market uncertainty and rising US yields.
