European far-right parties align closer to Moscow

European far-right political figures are increasingly aligning their rhetoric with interests that favor Moscow over Washington. Alice Weidel of Germany’s AfD has praised Donald Trump’s pragmatism regarding Russian diesel and expressed skepticism toward German policy in Ukraine. Similarly, Marine Le Pen has indicated that if elected, France would cease funding Kyiv after six months due to a lack of resources.

Analysts suggest these shifts are driven by domestic political power dynamics rather than direct conversion by US politics. In Germany, the AfD’s strength in eastern regions influences the party's western leadership to adopt stances that align with Russian strategic interests, such as the potential reactivation of Nord Stream. While Washington’s stance on Russian energy has fluctuated, the alignment of these European parties appears to follow a consistent strategic direction toward Moscow.
