European Film Festival to honor animation master Enzo d’Alò

The European Film Festival, held in Lecce from November 7–14, will feature a major tribute to animation master Enzo d’Alò. The event will include a complete retrospective of his feature films, showcasing works such as ‘La freccia azzurra’ (1996), a restored version of ‘La Gabbianella e il gatto’ (1998), ‘Momo alla conquista del tempo’ (2001), ‘Opopomoz’ (2003), ‘Pinocchio’ (2012), ‘Pipì, Pupù e Rosmarina in: Il mistero delle note rapite’ (2017), and ‘Mary e lo spirito di mezzanotte’ (2023).

In addition to his filmography, the festival will highlight d’Alò’s transition to literature with his new novel ‘Oceani di carta’, co-written with Giacomo Scarpelli. The program also includes the projection of ‘Il flauto magico’, an episode from the ‘Pipì, Pupù e Rosmarina alla ricerca del Mapá’ series, which established a significant creative partnership between d’Alò and Vincenzo Cerami.

A central highlight of the festival will be the presentation of the ‘Ulivo d’Oro’ lifetime achievement award to d’Alò, alongside a public meeting curated by Davide Di Giorgio to explore the director’s unique narrative style and poetic vision.
