Bundesliga sets new attendance record for 2025/26 season

The Bundesliga announced that 36 clubs in the top two German football divisions sold a combined 21,404,258 tickets in the 2025/26 season, a new all‑time record. This equals an average of 34,974 tickets per match.

Ticket sales in the first division rose 9.1 % over the previous season, largely driven by the return of the traditional clubs 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV. In the second division ticket sales fell slightly when the two clubs are excluded.

The average stadium occupancy reached 96.1 % last season, up from 95.9 % the year before. Four clubs – Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern München and St. Pauli – achieved full (100 %) capacity. Borussia Dortmund recorded the highest match‑day attendance with almost 80,000 spectators, followed by Bayern München at around 75,000 and Hamburger SV at roughly 56,900. For comparison, the 1992/93 season averaged only 14,625 fans per match.
