Olympiacos secures third consecutive Europa League win

Olympiacos maintained a perfect record in the Europa League League Phase with a 1-0 victory over Sparta Prague at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. The decisive goal was scored in the 78th minute by Mexican striker Armando ‘Hormiga’ González, who converted a header following a cross from Marcus Pedersen. Although UEFA initially reviewed the play as a potential own goal, the credit was officially awarded to González.

With this win, Olympiacos has accumulated nine points from three matches, placing them among the top performers in the competition and strengthening their position for a top-eight finish. The victory also significantly boosted the club's UEFA coefficient, moving them to the top of the rebalancing rankings and increasing their statistical probability of securing a direct ticket to the Champions League League Phase in the 2027-28 season.

Head coach Imanol Alguacil credited the players' hard work for the six-match winning streak across all competitions. Despite González's impactful performance as a substitute, he continues to be utilized as a tactical resource rather than a regular starter.
