European football revenues hit record €40 billion

European football revenues exceeded €40 billion for the first time during the 2024/25 season, marking a 6% increase from the €38 billion recorded in the 2023/24 period. This data was released in the Annual Review of Football Finance by the Deloitte Sports Business Group.

The five major European leagues—the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A, and Ligue 1—generated a combined €21.6 billion in the 2024/25 season, up from €20.4 billion the previous year. The English Premier League continues to lead the market, reporting an 8% increase with total revenues reaching £6.8 billion.

Despite these record figures, Deloitte analysts warn of a potential slowdown. Revenue growth for the top five leagues is expected to decelerate, with some leagues potentially seeing stabilization or declines during the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons. Tim Bridge, Lead Partner at Deloitte Sports Business Group, noted that while the expansion of UEFA and FIFA competitions has provided financial benefits, relying solely on increased content may not ensure sustainable growth and could risk long-term viability for immediate gains.
