European fruit markets see shifting prices for pears, strawberries, and blueberries

Agricultural markets in Europe are seeing varied price trends across different fruit and vegetable sectors. At Van Kessel Fruit, the harvest is nearing completion. While drought initially made the start of the harvest difficult, irrigation helped maintain quality. Apple yields are reported as normal compared to previous years, though export opportunities are limited by strong harvests elsewhere in Europe. The market for small Conference pears is facing pricing challenges due to competition from Belgium, which produces a high volume of small fruit.

In the retail sector, recent data shows a significant 15.8% drop in average strawberry prices, falling from €3.79 to €3.19 for 400g packs. Major supermarkets like Albert Heijn and Plus have implemented notable price reductions. Conversely, blueberry prices have risen by 7.1% due to the end of promotional offers. Mango prices have also seen a decline of 9.1% following consecutive weeks of discounts.
