European Fund for Southeast Europe marks 20 years in Mostar
The European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) marked its 20th anniversary with a professional conference in Mostar. The event gathered key partners, including representatives from the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), shareholders, investors, and various financial institutions.
Since its establishment in 2005 as a public-private partnership initiated by the German development bank KfW, the Fund has focused on supporting economic development and financial inclusion in Southeast Europe and the EU's eastern neighborhood. Through a network of partner financial institutions, EFSE has expanded access to financing for entrepreneurs, households, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
Linda Broekhuizen, Chair of the EFSE Fund, highlighted that the Fund has evolved from an innovative idea into a resilient platform that strengthens financial sectors and creates opportunities for local businesses. The organization aims to continue mobilizing investments to foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the region.
