European Heritage Days 2026 to focus on photography
The 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days will take place in September 2026, featuring the national theme ‘Photography Heritage’ to mark the bicentenary of the invention of photography. A secondary European theme, ‘Heritage in Peril: Revive, Resist, Reimagine,’ will address threats to historical sites such as climate change and urbanization.
Public access will be available on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, following a day reserved for school groups on September 18. Many sites, including the Centre des monuments nationaux network, will offer free admission.
In Nogent, the Pavillon Baltard will host specific programming on September 19, including a showcase of the Christie cinema organ from the former Gaumont-Palace. The event will feature documentaries, musical performances by organists John Mann and Eric Cordé, and a cine-concert screening of Buster Keaton’s ‘The Playhouse’ accompanied by the organ.
