European Heritage Days celebrated across Romania
European Heritage Days are being observed in Romania from September 11–13, 2026, featuring various cultural initiatives and free access to historical sites. The event is an annual initiative by the Council of Europe and the European Commission aimed at raising awareness regarding the diversity and protection of European cultural heritage.
In Brașov, the Ethnographic Museum of Brașov is offering free visits to its main site, the Museum of Urban Civilization of Brașov, and the “Gheorghe Cernea” Ethnographic Museum in Rupea.
In Bucharest, the “Nouă Ne Pasă!” Cultural Association, in partnership with PLAN Patru, is hosting events at the Casa Căpitanului Pandele. Built in 1891 and recently restored, the house will host guided tours on September 13, followed by a conference on the valorization of cultural heritage. This year's theme, “Heritage in Danger: Revive, Resist, Reimagine,” focuses on the necessity of finding new ways to protect and utilize historical assets.
