European Heritage Days feature Schaan brewery and Basel tours

The European Heritage Days will feature various cultural events in September 2026, including a special focus on the Kulturbrauerei Schaan in Liechtenstein. The historic building, originally built in 1887 as the Quaderer brewery, is being transformed into a cultural center providing residential and workspaces for international artists. An official opening ceremony is scheduled for November 14, 2026, with an artist-in-residence program set to begin in early 2027.

In Basel, Switzerland, the celebrations will focus on the Kleinbasel district under the theme ‘On the Move in Kleinbasel’. The event aims to highlight architectural diversity, ranging from medieval roof structures to 1940s kindergarten buildings. This year's broader European theme, ‘Heritage at Risk’, addresses threats to cultural sites such as climate change, population growth, and increased mobility.
