European Hybrid Intelligence Network announces artist residency call
The European Hybrid Intelligence Network (EHIN) has launched a public call for artists to participate in residency programs exploring the intersection of art, science, technology, and living systems. The initiative focuses on hybrid intelligence derived from non-human living systems, such as plants, fungi, microorganisms, and animals, and how they process information and interact within ecosystems.
Through research into biocomputing, electrophysiology, and cross-species communication, the project aims to challenge anthropocentric models of intelligence and computing. The program utilizes ‘Dirty Labs’—experimental environments that integrate scientific methods, artistic practices, and local ecological knowledge using sensor technologies, machine learning, and bioinformatics.
Six residency locations are available across Europe: Belgrade (Serbia), Brussels (Belgium), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Zagreb (Croatia), Gijón (Spain), and Karlsruhe (Germany). Selected artists will receive support of up to 25,000 euros for fees and production costs. The application deadline is December 4, 2026.
