European Investment Bank invests $37.5 million in Egypt's Tanmiya Capital Fund II
The European Investment Bank (EIB), through its development finance arm EIB Global, has committed $37.5 million to Tanmiya Capital Fund II. This investment contributed to the fund reaching a final close of $130 million, which exceeds the $120 million target cited by the EIB, though it remains below a $150 million target previously disclosed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Managed by the Egyptian private equity firm Tanmiya Capital, the fund aims to provide growth financing and strategic support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt. The fund will target sectors critical to economic development, including healthcare, education, fintech, consumer goods, logistics, and transportation.
Other participating investors include the Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund (EAEF), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA).
