European Investment Bank launches SME funding initiatives in Serbia
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has entered into new agreements with major financial institutions to provide significant funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Serbia, focusing on economic resilience, sustainability, and social inclusion.
Through a partnership with Erste Bank, a 22 million euro package has been established. This includes a 20 million euro EIB loan and 2 million euros in EU grants. The funds are designated for digitalization, green transition, and sustainable agriculture, including support for research, artificial intelligence, and climate change mitigation efforts. The EU grants allow qualifying companies to reduce their repayment amounts by 10 percent.
Additionally, UniCredit Bank and UniCredit Leasing Serbia have secured a 56.5 million euro initiative with the EIB. This package consists of 50 million euros in loans and 6.5 million euros in grants. This specific program targets companies committed to inclusive employment, aiming to support the professional advancement of women, youth, and persons with disabilities. These funds are part of the EIB's economic resilience initiative to promote social inclusion and gender equality within the Serbian labor market.
