European landmarks offer historical views through climbable structures

Europe offers numerous climbable structures that provide both scenic views and historical insight. In Milan, the rooftop of the Duomo allows visitors to walk among 135 decorated pink marble spires, gargoyles, and statues.

In Florence, the Duomo features a dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, which helped initiate the architectural Renaissance. Climbers can ascend 463 steps to view the Last Judgment ceiling painting and the unique “dome-within-a-dome” construction. This structure served as an inspiration for landmarks such as St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and the US Capitol.

Additionally, the Reichstag in Berlin features a spectacular dome atop the German parliament building.
