European Medicines Agency refuses to release COVID‑19 vaccine safety data amid activist demands

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and its head, Emer Cooke, maintain that no reliable scientific evidence exists to overturn the positive risk‑benefit balance of the mRNA COVID‑19 vaccines Comirnaty and Spikevax. Activist groups, including the Transparency4Safety initiative led by Dr. Silvia Behrendt and the German association Mediziner und Wissenschaftler für Gesundheit, Freiheit und Demokratie e.V. (MWGFD), have pressed the EMA for full disclosure of the vaccines’ Common Technical Document (CTD) and for a livestreamed meeting. A limited in‑person meeting was held on 2 July 2026 in Amsterdam with Dr. Behrendt and Dr. Jasper Bovenberg, after which MWGFD published a dossier of scientific studies contesting the EMA’s claim of no safety concerns. The World Council for Health also issued a letter demanding de‑redaction of the CTD, citing trial death counts and labeling the vaccines “dangerous and unsafe.” The EMA has declined to discuss scientific matters at the meeting and has not provided the requested data, prompting continued criticism from the activist coalition.
