European milk and grain prices increase in July
Effective 1 July, the price paid to Arla dairy farmers in Sweden rose by 16.6 öre per kilogram for both conventional and organic milk. After a quarterly currency adjustment that lowered the price by 3.0 öre/kg, the resulting a‑contoprice for July is 466.0 öre/kg for conventional milk and 646.5 öre/kg for organic milk.
For the second week in a row, European grain prices continued to climb. At the Matif exchange in Paris, corn surged 6.9 % to €228.25 per tonne, while wheat rose 0.8 % to €202.75 per tonne and rapeseed increased 1.8 %. EU wheat exports have reached 26.02 million tonnes, up 9 % from the same period last year, and overall grain stocks remain high across the bloc. In Sweden, a weaker krona has pushed domestic grain prices higher when expressed in local currency.
