European Mobility Week 2026 to focus on intergenerational equity

The 2026 European Mobility Week, scheduled for September 16 to 22, will focus on the theme of “mobility for all.” Coordinated at the European level and supported in France by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, the campaign aims to promote alternatives to individual car use, such as walking, public transport, carpooling, and cycling.

This edition emphasizes intergenerational equity, addressing the varying transportation needs of children, working adults, and seniors. For cyclists aged 60 to 80, road safety remains a primary concern, while school mobility often depends on local municipal initiatives. The campaign seeks to ensure freedom of movement regardless of age, income, location, gender, or physical ability.

In Bordeaux, Bordeaux Métropole will host a series of events from September 14 to 22. The program includes a conference on global mobility trends by consultant Julien de Labaca and a session on intermodality, exploring the synergies between different transport modes and the role of park-and-ride facilities.
