European Mobility Week 2026 promotes sustainable transport

European Mobility Week 2026 is being observed across various countries, centered on the theme ‘Mobility for All’. The initiative, which runs from September 16 to 22, focuses on intergenerational accessibility and promoting sustainable transport methods such as cycling, walking, and public transit.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Banja Luka is organizing a large cycling event on September 20. In Slovakia, over 40 municipalities are participating in activities ranging from educational school events to car-free days. Italy is seeing widespread engagement, including ‘Bike to Work Day’ initiatives in the Marche region, urban mobility monitoring in Francavilla Fontana, and cycling championships in Rome to promote bike-friendly infrastructure.

Other regional activities include pedestrian and cycling promotions in Serbia’s Bajina Bašta, intergenerational workshops in Slovenia’s Kamnik, and specialized programs in Muta. These events aim to reduce carbon emissions, improve urban air quality, and encourage long-term policy changes toward inclusive and safe public spaces.
