European Muslims League launches Islamophobia monitoring unit

The European Muslims League (EML) has announced the establishment of the ‘EML Islamophobia Watch – European Monitoring & Response Unit’. This new initiative is dedicated to monitoring and documenting Islamophobia, disinformation, and misleading narratives regarding Islam and Muslims across Europe.

EML President Dr. Alfredo Maiolese stated that the organization aims to counter false claims and misleading headlines with knowledge and verifiable facts rather than anger. The unit will systematically monitor media outlets, websites, blogs, and social media platforms to prevent the spread of unverified narratives.

Vice President Dr. Arben Ramkaj noted a concerning rise in Islamophobia within the Balkans, attributing it to media climates supported by international lobbying. He emphasized the importance of protecting the region's tradition of interreligious coexistence and upholding freedom of belief as a fundamental human right.
