Germany to establish cyber shield and expel Russian diplomats
Germany is significantly escalating its security measures in response to perceived hybrid threats from Russia. Following an incident involving a drone with explosives at Leipzig airport, the German government announced plans to establish a 'cyber dome'—a network of digital sensors designed to detect and intercept cyberattacks.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt warned that hybrid warfare, including drone incursions, cyberattacks, and infrastructure sabotage, has become a daily reality. To bolster defense, Germany will also strengthen Federal Police units to intercept drones and protect airspace over major cities like Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich.
