European package holidays see sharp price drops
A recent Which? analysis of more than 17,000 August package holidays offered by easyJet Holidays, Jet2 Holidays and TUI shows that late‑bookers can save hundreds of pounds across Europe. Compared with March prices, 53 of 71 destinations now cost less, with average savings of about 10‑16 %. In Greece, a week in the Peloponnese fell 16 % to £903 per person, while Turkey’s Dalaman region dropped 14 % to £808. Spain’s Costa Dorada and Portugal’s Algarve also recorded double‑digit price reductions. The report attributes the decline to easing geopolitical tensions after a recent US‑Iran peace deal, which lowered aviation fuel costs and encouraged operators to cut fares to fill summer capacity. Consumers who remain flexible on dates, airports or destinations are most likely to capture the biggest discounts.
