European Parliament approves new Class B driving license regulations
The European Parliament has approved new driving license regulations aimed at easing restrictions for Class B license holders. Under the new rules, individuals with a Class B license may be permitted to drive vehicles with a total weight of up to 4.25 tonnes, provided they complete specific training or an examination.
EU member states have three years to incorporate these new requirements into national law, with an additional year allocated for practical implementation. The specific requirements for certain vehicle types, such as motorhomes, will be determined individually by each country.
Currently, Class B license holders can tow light, unbraked trailers weighing up to 750 kg. For heavier trailers, the combined weight of the vehicle and trailer must not exceed 3.5 tonnes, and the loaded trailer cannot exceed the vehicle's registered unladen weight.
