European Parliament approves new pet protection regulations

The European Parliament has approved initial regulations aimed at protecting dogs and cats, establishing new standards that recognize pets as family members rather than mere objects.

In Spain, the Foundation for Animal Advisory and Action in Defense of Animals (FAADA) is taking the issue of pet-friendly housing to Congress. The organization is hosting a session titled ‘Towards a more inclusive rental’ to address barriers that prevent people from renting homes with pets. FAADA argues that these restrictions disproportionately affect vulnerable populations and can lead to the separation of families from their animals. The initiative seeks to foster dialogue between public administrations, the real estate sector, and social entities to develop policies that facilitate coexistence between tenants, landlords, and pets.
